Holiday homes in Mayenne are ideal for Brittany, Normandy & the Loire
Lassay les Chateaux is more or less in the middle of a triangle between Le-Mans, Rennes and Caen. This makes the holiday home ideally placed for exploring Brittany, Normandy and the Pays-de-la-Loire. Here you’ll find a few photos to give you a taste of each region.
The holiday home is not far from the historic Brittany cities of Fougéres and Vitré (40min by car) and St Malo and Mont St Michel are easily accessible too.
The Normandy spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne is only twenty minutes away and as a fashionable weekend escape from Paris it has a wide variety of boutiques and restaurants. The whole region has a significant military history and not just the WW2 D-Day landings used in Operation Overlord. William the Conqueror had castles in Falaise and Caen and you won’t get far without seeing statues of Joan of Arc in the local churches. The large city of Caen, the Brittany Ferries port at Ouistreham, Bayeaux and the D-Day beaches are all within range of an easy day trip.
There is a lot to see in the Pays-de-la-Loire in the south west are the vineyards of Angers and the gateway to the Loire Valley. Laval, the birthplace of the painter Henri Rousseau is twenty minutes away, and of course the large city of Le Mans with it’s world-famous motor-racing circuit. Being about two thirds of the way from the port to Le Mans racing circuit, Lassay les Chateaux often fills with an assortment of interesting vehicles. over race weekends.
